Elliott Michael Dernback, a Vietnam War veteran who received two Purple Hearts, and who later was a Physical Education teacher, retiring from I.S. 61, and also owned Bliss Marine Boat Repairs in Great Kills, died Oct. 5, 2021.

William John Lopez, 18, who was extremely talented and played the guitar and bass, continually developed his artistic abilities throughout his life and who was a tattoo artist with the family-owned business, has died.

Victor Loscalzo, 98, who was stationed in the Aleutian Islands while serving in the Navy during WWII, had many business ventures over his long life, and was a member of the North Shore Kiwanis Club, died Oct. 6, 2021.


Michael J. Hafey, 91, a native Staten Islander who was an investigator for the New York City Water Department for 30 years, died Oct. 5, 2021.

Louis Kaszubski, 87, who worked until he was 80 years old as vice-president of sales of Resources and who was an avid outdoorsman, died Oct. 4, 2021.

Daniel James MacDuffie Duffy, 67, who began his career as a trauma nurse and later worked in organ procurement with Our legacy (formerly Translife), enabling him to help countless people around the world, died Sept. 1, 2021.
